Welcome to Nectar Yard

Nectar Yard is open! Welcome to a month-long community challenge to cultivate both flowers and friendship, with plenty of Flutterkin babies following along the way. :butterfly: In this Dev Diary, read about why we built it, how to join, and our plans for the future of community events just like it!

Why Nectar Yard?

Weekly events are a great way to bring together friends, both old and new, as you rally your crew together for fierce competitions and subsequent item swaps. We’ve hosted a few longer-term challenges, like our Crew Wars, in the past.

Crew Wars of the past typically added up your Crew’s weekly event ticket scores over the course of a month to find the top winner. They were wildly competitive and witnessed incredible teamwork… but they were also difficult to stay engaged with long-term. Between accessibility and burnout, the old model for Crew Wars needed to change.

Nectar Yard is our way to make eventing feel more like a season than a sprint: a month-long, persistent cooperative world where your crew grows a shared garden, harvests together, and climbs a crew-wide progression track and leaderboard.

If you like coordinating, flexing teamwork, or just want a reason to pop in daily and feel your crew’s progress piling up in real time, let the yard become your new local hub!

What Is Nectar Yard?

Each crew gets its own instance of Nectar Yard, ie, a shared garden space, where up to 50 players can join in. At its core, your main loop will be

  • Cultivate Flowers of different rarities

  • Harvest flowers with your Flutterkins

  • Collect Nectar that counts towards your Crew Participation Track and community-wide Leaderboard

No crew? Head to Nectar Yard for a little nudge to help you find a crew so you can join the festivities!

How You Play

1) Play Weekly Events to earn Seeds

Weekly events are the main source of your garden supply. As you progress, you’ll pick up Seeds, which you can plant in Nectar Yard. Higher placements in weekly events can lead to higher-rarity Seeds.

Also, the first time you step into Nectar Yard, you’ll get starter Common Seeds so you can begin planting immediately. :potted_plant:

2) Plant Flowers in your Crew’s garden

Walk up to an empty plot and plant a Flower. Already planted something? You can replant to upgrade your garden! That way, your crew’s Yard can evolve over the month.

Flowers come in rarities (Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Legendary). Higher rarity = higher Nectar yield, but also comes with a longer time between harvests.

3) Harvest with Flutterkins to generate Nectar

When a Flower is ready, you harvest it by selecting a Flutterkin. Butterflies are nature’s little harvesters that can massively increase how much Nectar you pull from a Flower.

Have multiple Flutterkins? They can ALL follow you in the world (up to 5 at a time)! You’ll be able to pick and choose which Flutterkin you’d like to help you harvest.

Pro Tip: Higher rarity butterflies will be able to help you more than lower rarity butterflies!

Don’t have a Flutterkin just yet? No problem! When you enter Nectar Yard, you’ll be joined by a local Nectar Yard Flutterkin who’s willing to help you out. They can’t leave Nectar Yard, but they’ll be there to help you harvest whenever you join your instance.

You’ll be able to keep your Loaner Flutterkin by getting a Soulstone available in the Participation tracks after the Nectar Yard Crew War ends!

Crew-Wide Boosts

Daily Bonus

Every day, the crew’s first batch of harvests gets a big multiplier. This helps your whole team stay on top of your efforts on a daily basis, and stay locked in when the competition gets fierce.

Happy Hour

Happy Hour is the “everybody get in here!” button. Think of it as Party Time for your Crew!

Purchase Happy Hour with Gold. It lasts 1 hour, and buying again extends it. While it’s active, harvests get a major bonus multiplier.

The best use is when your crew agrees on a time, piles in together, and starts their harvest timers in sync.

The real WHY: We Want Crews to Feel Like Crews

Crews are hotspots of community, welcoming vibes, and genuine friendships… and they’ve been needing some love. Even though you spend tons of time with your Crew in events, rooms, and just your communal DMs, we want to celebrate your teamwork with a place and event that really honor your shared time in HR.

Nectar Yard brings everyone into the fold, even if you’re not trying for a top-ranked spot. Find a cozy corner of your own Crew’s Nectar Yard instance to just hang out, chat, and maybe get to know someone a little better as you plant flowers together. Nectar Yard is for competition and coziness.

FAQ

What happens if I leave my crew? Your original crew keeps the Flowers you planted in their Yard, and you won’t be able to claim past rewards from a new crew you join.

What if I join a crew partway through the month? You can contribute immediately, but you can only claim rewards from that point onward.

How do I keep my loaner Flutterkin? You’ll earn a binding item through the month-long crew track. Use it in Nectar Yard to bind the butterfly permanently.

See You in the Yard!
