Multi-Style Items: One Item, More Options

Have you ever had an item that was almost right… But not quite what you wanted?

Maybe it was a teddy bear purse made for the avatar’s left hand when you really wanted it in the right. Or maybe it was a zipped-up corduroy jacket that had the perfect silhouette, but you wanted it unzipped to be able to show off your favorite top. Or perhaps you coveted a beach-party crop top, but it had a masc physique when you prefer to dress fem.

These days are starting to change, friends. Multi-Style items are here, and they’re exactly what they sound like.

If you’re part of the Creature Club, you’ve already seen these bad boys drop last week with the Club Year Four Anniversary gift. For those who missed the sneak peek, read on for the lowdown on how this new closet feature is about to revolutionize our favorite thing: OPTIONS.

Plus… scroll to the very end to see a wee looksie at tomorrow’s new multi-styled set!** :fire::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:**

Masculine VS Feminine versions of a Creature Club shirt, rolled into one item.

Multi-Style Items

Multi-Style items are single items that contain multiple styles or variant options.

Different variants of a single item might include different colors, sizing options, masculine and feminine style variants, and alternate item states (like the zipped/unzipped jacket example mentioned earlier).

This literally means way more value for collectors and dress-up connoisseurs: for every single Multi-Style item you have, you get two, three, or more for the price of one.

And since multiple items are bundled into one little UI square in your closet, this also means a drastic cutdown on wasted space from duplicate items that display only slight variations on a single design.

For example, you know how we have two versions of most Lash items? One version typically layers Above the hair, and another item layers Below hair. It’s the same design… but divided into two whole, separate items.

Now, imagine one lash item, taking up one slot in your closet, that you can choose to layer above or below hair with a simple swipe.

No more scrolling for the twin to an item you already have equipped. No more wondering why there are two versions of the same shirt, built for feminine or masculine aesthetics. Tons more options for styling.

How it works in-game

We wanted this to feel obvious, fast, and very “style-and-go.”

In the Shop and Closet

  • Multi-Style Items display a Multi-Style badge right on the item cell.

  • You can swipe on the item cell to switch between styles without hunting down a separate version.

Swipe to view different versions of the same piece

In the Item Info modal

  • You can swipe to preview and try on all available styles. Equip an item, and swipe through to watch it change in real time on your avatar. Quick, unfussy, uncomplicated.

Items display a “Multi-Style” label so you can always tell which ones are which

When viewing other players**

Outfit thumbnails will show the exact style they’re wearing, plus the Multi-Style badge. If you see a look you like, you’ll always know what you’re looking at, AND that more styles of that piece exist.

The bigger picture

Over time, this feature will grow from just a few new drops into a forest of widespread, multi-stylin’ availability, improving the biodiversity of our item ecosystem one look at a time. :deciduous_tree:

  • You get more choice with fewer duplicate-feeling items

  • Creators and drops get more room to be expressive

  • We build higher-value, more flexible items without cluttering your collections

Multi-Style Items are about making items feel the way they should’ve felt all along: more wearable, more versatile, and more worth it.
